Zero Dark 30

It took the US government 10 years to find and kill Osama Bin Laden. The film spends a long 2 hours and 37 minutes to chronicle the long hunt. The first hour is so slow that you feel as frustrated as the people who were hunting Osama for years without meaningful progress.

Silver Linings Playbook

Thank God for moderate expectations. Silver Linings Playbook was much better than I anticipated. Pat (Bradley Cooper) remains undiagnosed with bipolar personality disorder until he finds his wife in the shower cheating with a colleague from work. Pat almost kills the man. His lawyer manages to keep him out of prison by letting the state lock him up in a mental hospital.

I can see that Amour wins an Oscar tomorrow for Best Foreign Film, but I doubt that he will the Oscar for Best Picture. Why? Amour is too serious, too much art and too little entertainment.
